Weeds – Cyanotype print – Amanda Rataj
This original cyanotype print is from a series of images on wild plants that can be used in papermaking. Printed on handmade jute paper (also made by me!), this print is an original, one-off edition. Cyanotypes are one of the earliest photographic processes; made in the darkroom by sensitizing paper with a liquid formula, cyanotypes were what Anna Atkins used to illustrate the world's very first photo-illustrated book in 1843. This print is approximately 11 x 15 (28 x 38cm). It is unframed, and will come packed between 2 pieces of acid-free matt board. Because of the nature of the printing process and the handmade paper, the edges are very irregular!
