Wick trimmers cut candle wicks perfect every time! You need this for proper burning of large sized jar candles, handmade mason jars & glass jar candles sold in stores. You’ll achieve longer burn time by using the trimmer thus preventing your wicks from sinking lower than the exterior edges of the wax. The long 7.5” stainless tool enables you to reach inside to trim wick to appropriate burn length; reaches & grabs so much better than household scissors. Etched design on handle. The thick base ensures that the wick will not be too short while the circular dish on top catches the trimmed sooty pieces keeping your hands and candle clean. TIPS for good candle burning and using wick trimmer: * The recommended wick length for a proper burn is ¼” long. Most new candles have longer wicks making it necessary to cut before using. * Do not use on newly extinguished candles; allow the wax to cool & harden. A good habit is to trim before lighting. * Hold trimmer by handle, gently rest over wax surrounding the wick, lift slightly to elbow, snip & lift cut portion for disposal. * If your previously burned candles have a ‘sink hole’ (the wax has burned deeper in the center where the wick is placed), please fix it first. Scrape the higher edges of wax out to level the best you can, then trim wick. If the wax still isn’t level, lift the trimmer a bit off the wax for ½” length wick to ensure you have enough to burn. Burn until you have a wax pool that is even, extinguish, let cool, trim again if needed. You may have to do a few times depending on how deep the sink hole is. * Clean occasionally using any grease cutting cleaner or rubbing alcohol.
