What is blocking
Blocking is the process used to shape crocheted work using water (wet blocking) or steam (steam blocking). Wet blocking is done by wetting the finished piece then pinning it out, while steam blocking is done by pinning the finished piece first then steam-press it.
How to block
Wet-block:
1. Soak crocheted/knitted piece for 15 minutes in water
2. Squeeze out any excess water with a towel
3. Pin the crocheted/knitted piece down to the desired shape and measurements
4. Leave to dry and then remove the pins
Steam-block
1. Pin the crocheted/knitted piece down to the desired shape and measurements
2. Steam with a steam iron (leave about 2-3 cm gap between steam iron and fabric)
3. Leave to dry and then remove the pins
