This peaceful, original abstract impressionist painting is 4" x 4" painted on Arches oil painting paper, and comes with an 8" x 8" mat that is suitable for framing. Part of my "Tranquil Waters" series, these pondscapes are thought-provoking, colorful and one-of-a-kind works of art by California artist, Judy Jacobs. Sized to easily fit your choice of frame (frame not included), each painting is signed on the back and also on the front of the mat directly underneath the piece, and is inserted into a clear cellophane bag and shipped in a sturdy cardboard mailer. Awhile back someone asked me to paint a"something like Monet" and I turned down the commission because I was busy with work and didn't consider myself an impressionist painter. When the COVID-19 virus closed down the State of California this March (as well as many other states of the nation and countries in the world), I found myself extremely anxious and unable to sleep. Normally my go-to place to relax is the ocean but with the beaches closed, I chose to paint instead. Being told to remain inside made me want to be outside in nature, so I sought solace and inspiration by walking my dog Jackson (named after Jackson Pollack) and wandered the trails by the ponds and water features of nearby parks, watching the gentle ripples in the water from the ducks and water plants. I now understand the peaceful calm Claude Monet must have experienced when he chose to paint his beloved gardens in Giverny, France. These smaller works are studies for larger pieces that I'm doing in acrylics on paper and on canvas. They make wonderful gifts for art lovers and some will be available in prints if you're interested in the design but want a bigger size.
