Born in Texas on April 22, 1986, Amber Heard started her career with small appearances in music videos and on TV shows including The O.C. and Jack & Bobby. In 2004, she made her big-screen debut in the film version of Friday Night Lights, which she followed up with minor roles in North Country and Alpha Dog. Heard’s star rose to a new level in 2008 with the release of Pineapple Express, which also starred Seth Rogen and James Franco. She later appeared in Magic Mike XXL, Machete Kills, The Danish Girl and The Adderall Diaries. In 2009, the actress met Johnny Depp on the set of the 2011 film The Rum Diary. The duo later began dating and tied the knot in February 2015. They split just over one year later, and Heard accused her then-estranged husband of domestic abuse (which he vehemently denied). Depp later filed a $50 million lawsuit against his ex-wife after she wrote an essay in The Washington Post describing herself as a survivor of abuse and assault. She didn’t identify in the piece, but he claimed that it ruined his career and reputation in Hollywood. In June 2022, a jury determined that she defamed him with the article and ordered her to pay him $15 million in damages. The jury also found that Depp’s attorney defamed her in one statement; Heard was awarded $2 million in damages. In July 2021, Heard revealed that she welcomed a daughter named Oonagh via surrogate in April of that year.
